近来不少人物传记,对传主的交游,都不约而同地注重起来,更有专从交游入手探索一时代“文人集团”的著作。这至少对一般读者很有用处,交游讲清楚了,便可见出传主当时的作用、影响,他发挥这作用影响的方式与渠道,更能折射其为人。没有交游,就没有人物活动的完整历史。王元化先生曾经感叹鲁迅传难写,交游方面不易详明,也是原因之一。以鲁迅的重要,逝世不过六十年,有些交游情况就已经颇感渺茫了。许多“回忆录”,事后还须“正误”,说明是误传,误记,甚或虚构。研究者轻视交游,一至于斯。有些传记干脆抓住传主内心世界,拣出几个大关节,深文周纳地演述开来,这种写法固然凝炼,可以腾出许多篇幅来剖析人物内心,但未能正面接触复杂的交游圈子,失之于偏,也是很明显的。
