中国传统诗文评多为启发式、感悟式的札记,很少具有系统性。再加上受到禅宗的影响,多谈“悟”性、论说多有玄虚之感,如《沧浪诗话》。善于将论说与天、地、人融为一体,具有浑融特点,如《文心雕龙》。而钱锺书先生的《谈艺录》则博采众长,使用富有本民族文学意蕴的“唐音”、“宋调”、“神韵”诸词,并扩展了它们的美学内涵。从文学的发生、创作、评价等方面进行解说,试图建立中国独立的诗文评体系,极具启发意义。
