全球化进程将使人类形成新的普世文明,中、西文明将成为这个普世文明内部的两个亚文明。西方文明成为强势文明的主要原因在于其个人主义,西方文明扩张的结果是使其他文明越来越个体化。而随着文明的个体化,自由、平等、人权、民主、宪政都会接踵而至。即使没有历史传统,借助于现代文明的其他条件,现代的民主宪政照样能够在中国建立起来。唯有吸收西方文明的精华,才能实现中华文明的现代转型。
The process of globalization will enable mankind to form a new universal civilization, and the civilizations of China and West China will become the two sub-civilizations within this universal civilization. The main reason why Western civilization has become a strong civilization lies in its individualism. The result of the expansion of Western civilization is to make other civilizations more and more individualized. With the individualization of civilization, freedom, equality, human rights, democracy and constitutional government will follow one after another. Even without historical tradition, modern democratic constitutionalism can still be established in China with the aid of other conditions of modern civilization. Only by absorbing the best of Western civilization can we achieve the modern transformation of Chinese civilization.
