我所的大豆育种工作是从1958年开始的。1965年起,承担了全省的大豆研究任务。多年来,在毛主席无产阶级科技路线指引下,先后育成和推广了十几个大豆新品种(铁丰2、3、5、8、9、10、11、15、16、17、18、19和铁6611)。目前铁丰系统大豆品种在全省种植面积已达500万亩以上,约占全省大豆种涟面积的60％。其中铁丰18号已成为我省目前的主栽品种,栽种面积达300多万亩。有的品种如铁丰3号已被阿尔巴尼亚引入推广;铁丰17号和铁丰19号已在阿尔及利亚大面积种植,比美国的阿姆索和西比瓦品种增产20—52％。
