科学技术的发展必将极大地改变人类未来的生活、学习和工作,这已经是一个不争的公理。如今的科技发展已超越人们昔日的预测或构想,不少发达国家纷纷将精力花到了对未来世界的预测上,以利指导本国企业、团体和国民将有限的资金和人力投放到更有前景的科研和生产方向上去,借势抢占未来竞争的制高点。在这样的背景下,科学描述未来的科技水平,让更多的人来了解、关心和探索未来,使之更加有力地把握未来,就成为了科研机构不容推卸的历史使命。未来的世界是什么模样?值世纪交替之际,我国60位两院院士联合出版了科普专著《院士展望21世纪》,对未来100年中的科技发展作出了诸多美妙预言:在21世纪内,人类将有望攻克白血病、征服癌症;人类的飞行器将可作行程约200AU(AU 为太阳与地球间的距离)的星际旅行:人类将在月球上建立未来的能源基地;从上海开往北京的高速列车每30分钟开出一班,行程只需5个小时……与此同期,国外科学界对未来世界有哪些预测呢?
It is an indisputable axiom that the development of science and technology will surely greatly change the future life, study and work of mankind. Today's science and technology development has surpassed people's previous predictions or ideas. Many developed countries have spent their energy on predicting the future world so as to guide their enterprises, groups and nationals to invest limited funds and manpower into the more promising Scientific research and production direction, take the opportunity to seize the commanding height of future competition. Under such a background, scientifically describing the level of science and technology in the future and letting more people understand, care for and explore the future and make it grasp the future more forcefully has become an unshirkable historical mission of scientific research institutions. In the turn of the century, 60 academicians from both academies and in China jointly published the scientific monograph Prospects for the 21st Century and made many wonderful prophecies about the development of science and technology in the next 100 years: In the 21st century, Human beings are expected to overcome leukemia and conquer cancer; human aircraft will make travel about 200 AU (AU is the distance between the sun and the earth): human beings will build a future energy base on the moon; from Shanghai to Beijing at a high speed The train departs every 30 minutes and the journey takes only 5 hours ... In the same period, what are the forecasts made by the foreign scientific community to the future world?
