砖瓦砚是砚海中的一个重要分支,尤其是秦砖汉瓦,历来为世人所珍。我国历代文人雅士,拣造砖瓦整治成砚的风潮兴于隋唐,盛行于宋代,明清继之。乾隆皇帝钦编《西清砚谱》对未央、铜雀瓦砚多有记载,故宫博物院、上海松江博物馆等均有珍藏。眼前这方未央宫瓦砚,早年由在广州经营古玩的香港陈老先生收藏,2003年我出差广州逛文庙,偶然发现与之结缘,重金将其购回。该砚长29厘米,上宽14.5厘米,下宽14厘米,上高7厘米,下高6.75厘米。采用澄泥法而制,质地细密坚硬。黄釉鲜亮温润,挡面呈暗红色,釉面布满网状的细纹开片。行囊式砚堂与弯月状砚池
