The TEIC and Nuclear Regulatory Commisson established a seismic network with 16 stations in the southeastern United States between 1979 and 1980 in accordance with the signed contract and another Built in the Mississippi Valley. Short-period vertical seismographs are used on both stations and Memphis in Tennessee records telemetry over radio and telephone lines. Eight stations in the Memphis Regional Seismograph Network (MARSN) have been operational (there are at least 10 stations in this area). The South Appalachian Network (SARSN) is still in the design phase with plans to begin installation in 1981. This article only describes the situation of each network; a detailed assessment of the seismicity in each area is required
