Non-aldol aldol reaction is a Lewis acid-catalyzed synthesis of β-hydroxy-substituted aldehydes and ketones an important method. This review summarizes the application of the reaction in organic synthesis. The characteristics, types, improvements and applications of the reaction in the synthesis of natural products are discussed.
