Abstract Objective To prospectively evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of ultrasound in the diagnosis of pediatric appendicitis and to explore the correlation between special ultrasound findings and perforation of the appendix. Materials and Methods This study is in accordance with HIPAA, approved by the institutional ethics committee and informed consent received. Prospectively selected from July 1, 2013 - July 9, 2014 in the same institution of treatment of suspected pediatric appendicitis patients, all patients underwent transabdominal ultrasonography. The ultrasound results were expressed using the risk stratified scoring system (score 1 for normal appendix; score 2 for normal appendix not fully displayed; score 3 for appendix non-display; score 4 for suspicious appendicitis; score 5a for non-perforated appendicitis score 5b, Perforated appendicitis). The diagnostic efficacy of ultrasound refers to the ultrasound differential score
