A new breast cancer scanner called the TScan2000 is expected to provide additional information to radiologists to guide biopsy and possibly reduce the number of surgeries. Based on functional electrical impedance tomography, the TScan2000 produces a nonradiative two-dimensional impedance map of the entire breast or target area of interest. The probe placed on the breast measures the current on the skin and shows both the capacitance and the conduction image on the monitor screen.
