The governments of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica (hereinafter referred to as “the Parties”) are willing to create favorable conditions for the investors of one Contracting Party to invest in the territory of the other Contracting Party, recognizing that mutual encouragement, promotion and protection of investment will help Incentivizing investors’ enthusiasm for business and promoting the prosperity of the two countries, they are willing to strengthen cooperation between the two countries on the basis of the principle of equality and mutual benefit, and reach an agreement as follows: Article 1 Definitions of this Agreement: 1. The term “investment” is used. Refers to the investments made by investors of one contracting party in the territory of the other contracting party in accordance with the laws and regulations of the other contracting party.
