艺术和体育一样,都应以业余从事为正道。艺术以审美为最基本的功能,专业从事总有点不合情理,人类之初——原始社会没有专业艺术家,又几乎人人都是艺术家;马克思主义认为:人类到了共产主义也没有专业艺术家,艺术只是人们业余的事。《论语·述而篇》记孔子说的:“志于道,据于德,依于仁,游于艺”。也把“艺”定在业余的位置,艺术是游憩的工具,“道”是知识分子的志向(奋斗的目标),“德”可据,“仁”可依,唯“艺”不可据、依,以之游而已。所以,中国古代的大艺术家人都有一个专门职业,然后能文,然后才是艺,这是传统。专业艺术家的地位反而很低。正羲之是右将军,其散文《兰亭集序》乃千古名文;颜真卿是平原太守,诗文皆佳,他编著的《的海镜源》360卷,是最早按韵邮编排的类
