在客家人保留的众多传统习俗中,有不少寄寓了希望自己宗族强大、能开枝散叶的美好愿望,因而对于“生育”一事特别看重。不同时期有不同的习俗禁忌,有人会误以为这些习俗禁忌是旧风陋习、都是迷信使然,其实很多习俗是根据当时的生活环境和实际需要确定的,有一定的合理性和科学性。现将客家地区传统的生育习俗分“怀孕时”和“生育后”两大时间段,分别摘录如
Among the many traditional customs preserved by the Hakka people, many have placed their hopes of a strong descendant of their own clan and are willing to open branches and leaves. Therefore, they attach particular importance to the issue of “childbearing.” Different customs have different taboos in different periods. Some people may mistakenly think that these taboos are old customs, which are superstitious.
