近年来因特网上业务量爆炸性增长使网络日益拥塞。为了使网络从拥塞中解脱出来,在TCP配置中采用了慢启动和拥塞回避的策略。虽然在发送端TCP可以进行拥塞的检测和回避,但因为只有路由器才能对不同时间段的业务量进行统一的考查,所以最有效的拥塞检测和回避是在路由器中实现的。具有WRED功能的路由器通过监视平均队列长度的变化可以检测早期的拥塞。
In recent years, the explosive growth of the Internet traffic has made the network increasingly congested. In order to relieve the network from congestion, a strategy of slow start and congestion avoidance is adopted in the TCP configuration. Although TCP can detect and avoid congestion on the sender side, the most effective congestion detection and avoidance is implemented in the router because only the router can conduct unified examination on the traffic in different time periods. A WRED capable router can detect early congestion by monitoring the average queue length change.
