Urban road intersection is a kind of “throat” between pedestrians and all kinds of vehicles. It not only directly restricts the capacity of the entire road network, but also is the node of traffic congestion and accident concentration. In recent years, with the deepening of the policy of opening up and invigorating our country and the continuous growth of traffic volume in urban areas, the contradiction between urban traffic and the actual road network has become increasingly prominent. Traffic congestion and accidents have increased to some extent during the peak periods of some intersections. According to experts’ estimates, it is estimated that within five to ten years, a large number of existing trunk thoroughfares in large and medium-sized cities in China will gradually reach their saturation level.
