江口镇位于莆田县东部边沿,东经118°48＇,北纬25°45＇。东与福清新厝乡交界,南滨临兴化湾,西南与涵江区相连,中部为“九里洋”平源,是兴化平原的主要组成部分,全镇总面积79平方公里,总人口为69759人。工农业产值达20.6亿元,财政收入4500万元,旅外侨胞及港澳同胞有十余万人,是福建省著名的侨乡之一,也是福建省最大的淡水基地及福建省十强乡镇之一。
