保健型遗传工程稻三号(GER—3)是湖南农业大学万文举副教授为主的课题组,将玉米部分 DNA 片断导入水稻,并对受体产生的广泛变异进行多代定向选育而成。今年在湖南大面积推广试种,亩产都超过杂交水稻,在云南省永胜县涛源乡试种攻关田,面积为1.048亩,由云南省科委、农科院、省种子公司,云南农大以及湖南省农科院、农大和丽江地区农科所的专家学者组成的专家小组在涛源乡进行现场考察和验收,每亩有效穗33.77万,每穗总粒数137.84粒,实粒数127.33粒,结实率92.36%,千粒重25克,实际验收亩产1062.01公斤。该品种1993年10月22日已通过国内著名专家组成的鉴定委员会鉴定。GER—3通过大面积试种,生育期比汕优63早熟4~5天,株高120厘米左右,分蘖力强,株型紧凑,叶窄而直立,生长青秀而整齐,丰产性好,不需要年年制
