Ili Hartman was a famous “ace” fighter pilot of Nazi Germany during World War II, having set a record of downing 352 fighters. This aerial killer, known as the “Southern Black Devil,” committed an unforgivable war crime. The war prisoner, the Federal German Prime Minister Ardennes who personally released his condolences to the Soviet Union, became a bargaining chip to establish diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union and the Federal Republic of Germany. The Nazi war criminal was held in prisoners of war camp for 10 years.
