Ingot often exists inverted V-shaped segregation line. The inhomogeneity of this component structure can not be completely eliminated in the subsequent thermal processing, resulting in inhomogeneous properties of the material and inhomogeneities of deformation during the heat treatment. It has been reported in the literature [1, 2] that addition of rare earth elements to the molten steel has some influence on the segregation, but the nature of its influence is not discussed. In this work, the anatomy of ingot was observed, the morphology of segregation lines was observed, the phase composition changes and the number and composition of segregation lines were measured to determine the effect of adding rare earth elements on inverted V-shaped segregation and to explore its essence. A test steel for testing steel is melted by an alkaline open hearth, the finished steel composition (wt%) is: 0.25C; 1.50Mn; 0.28Si; 0.017P; 0.020S; 0.10Ti; 0.002B. The two steel ingots dissected in the experiment were wagered and inscribed in graphite scrap
