Aiming at the abnormal thinning of the outer wall of the heat transfer titanium tube in a closed cooling water system (SRI) heat exchanger of a nuclear power plant, the chemical composition, performance, working medium, flow induced vibration and fretting damage are studied and analyzed. It is concluded that the heat transfer titanium tube and baffle rod due to fluid induced vibration, collision friction between each other, and the local occurrence of fretting damage is the main reason for heat exchanger failure. Put forward a series of pertinent suggestions, the results for the nuclear heat exchanger in the sea water environment for effective protection and safe operation of reference.
