今天,我们抬腿移步,似乎毫不费力,可是我们的祖先——古猿,却不是这样。古猿是靠手臂行走的臂行动物,它们生活在树上,主要靠上肢来上下攀援,左右移动。后来,由于种种原因,它们被迫下了地,经过漫长的进化和痛苦的磨练,后肢终于演变成今天能够直立、可以负重、适宜远行的铁脚板。应该说,当我们的祖先迈步跨入“人”的门槛时,脚是立了大功的。
It seems easy to move our legs today, but our ancestors, the ancient apes, are not.
