“Contemporary ” often used interchangeably with “modernity ”, easily lead to understanding of the confusion. In recent years, contemporary criticism tends to replace modernity or future generations and even forms contemporary poetics. Andersen argues that the notion of contemporaryity refers not only to the review of various aspects of author creation in the context of the life of the author, but also to the reader’s awareness of the relevance of the work to current intellectual concerns. However, this definition does not cover the richness of contemporaryity. This article explores the concepts of contemporaryity mentioned in recent years in Anglo-American literary criticism and finds that contemporaryity at least includes the meanings of our times, contemporary coexistence, existence of life and transcendence of modernity.
