The roots of several plants of the genus Bupleurum are important medicinal resources in Asian medicine, and various herbal prescriptions containing these plants are used to treat chronic hepatitis, nephropathy, and autoimmune diseases. Triterpenoid saponins of this genus have been studied initially. The authors reported the isolation and identification of four new saponins from the root of the genus B.rigidum L. The plant roots are dried and crushed and extracted with acetone.
