苏州市全年新增合同利用外商直接投资124.96亿美元,实际利用外商直接投资68.05亿美元,比上年分别增长24.1%和41.4%,两项指标均居全国大中城市第一位。每月新增合同外资,保持在10亿美元左右的水平,呈现出多年来少有的好势头。合同外资占全省的40.6%,占全国10.9%;实际利用外资占全省的43.1%,占全国12.7%的份额。至2003年末,苏州实际利用外资累计已达347亿美元,已开业的外商投资企业达6230家。苏州招商引资主要呈现4大特点:
In the whole year, Suzhou newly used foreign direct investment totaled 12.496 billion U.S. dollars, foreign direct investment actually utilized 6.005 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 24.1% and 41.4% over the previous year respectively, ranking the first among large and medium-sized cities in the country. The monthly new contractual foreign investment, maintained at around 1 billion US dollars, showing a rare good momentum over the years. The contracted foreign investment accounted for 40.6% of the province, accounting for 10.9% of the national total. The actually utilized foreign investment accounted for 43.1% of the province, accounting for 12.7% of the national total. By the end of 2003, the actual utilization of foreign capital in Suzhou had reached 34.7 billion U.S. dollars, and 6,230 foreign-invested enterprises had been opened up.
