According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, in the first eight months of 2005, the total volume of China’s non-ferrous metals imports and exports was 30,024 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 7.973 billion U.S. dollars over the same period of 2004, an increase of 36.2% over the same period of last year and an increase of 20.7 percentage points. Among them, the amount of foreign exchange earned by exports was 10.532 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 2.790 billion U.S. dollars over the same period of 2004, an increase of 35.0% over the same period of last year; the import value of foreign exchange was 19.492 billion U.S. dollars, up from the same period of 2004.
