The cliff-side carvings in Nanshuangmiao Township of Chaoyang County, LiaoningProvince, constitute a batch of rare remains left over from the Liao, Jin and Yuan periods. They werediscovered in 1986 and comprehensively surveyed in 1987. The cliff-side measures 26m in total length and3-4m in remaining height. The carvings are all engravings simple in style, extensive in subject and im-pressive in chronological character. In an area of 80 sq m, there are nearly 50 Buddha, human, dragonand other animal representations and 20 items of poetical and reign-title inscriptions, totaling about 200characters. The finds are of certain significance to the study of Liao, Jin and Yuan stone carvings.
