京郊密云以大美山水而著称,东西南北四山环抱,潮白河水川流不息。东部有燕山主峰、海拔2118米的雾灵山,被称为“华北物种基地”;西部的云蒙山奇石林立、森林茂密、潭瀑众多,享有“北国黄山”的美誉;南部的黍谷山,因邹衍吹律而有黍谷先春的美誉;北部的云峰山,自然与历史人文和谐交融,动人的不老传说流传至今。我国著名旅游专家、北京大学陈传康教授称赞密云为“北京山水大观,首都郊野公园”。
