Using the Ms data from 1978 to 1983, the author statistically analyzed the relative deviation between reported Ms values of PEK, ISC, MOS and NEIS seismic agencies. Using NEIS (Ms value) as a reference, the results show that the average PEK (Ms value) is 0.2 on average, and that the earthquakes in the western area are compared with those in the western Pacific. PEK value relatively higher; for China and its neighboring mainland China, PEK-NEIS average of up to 0.5. This kind of regional discrepancy also exists for MOS, to a lesser degree. In addition, ISC is most compliant with NEIS; the systematic bias of MOS relative to ISC is only 0.01, but there are still significant regional differences. This paper compares the magnitudes of the four major Taiwan stations and focuses on the deviations of PEK relative to NEIS and the Ms deviations of earthquakes in China and its adjacent areas.
