Aiming at the process of slab casting, a three-dimensional coupled numerical calculation program was established for the flow, heat transfer and solidification of molten steel. The influence of the hole at the bottom of submerged nozzle on the flow and solidification characteristics of molten steel in continuous casting process was analyzed. The calculation results show that the openings in the lower part of the submerged entry nozzle can effectively restrain the length of the lower recirculation zone and help to form a relatively stable solidified shell, in particular, prevent the general nozzle from leaking greatly near the corners. Meanwhile, Section temperature has a certain effect, so keep the lower part of the hole is beneficial.
