Bubble appearance can qualitatively reflect the flotation process indicators have long been known. This article examines the possibility of building 3D models of foam surfaces to provide important information on the efficiency of the flotation process. The 3D model of bubble is built by first dividing the image by watershed method and then performing morphological analysis. Finally, a series of “garden tops” are established on the equivalent ellipses of bubbles that have been identified. The light intensity distribution for each identified area (bubble) is analyzed to determine the height and curvature of the resulting ellipsoid. With this technique developed, the elevation model of the foam surface can be established and then analyzed using fractal methods. The surface of the foam is a two-dimensional fractal. The fractal dimension and foam color parameters can be used to predict the mineral grade of the foam
