从西方艺术史的现代主义篇章中,贾科梅蒂被归在“存在主义”的艺术概念下。因为二战时期,战争对于整个欧洲的政治经济乃至思想的故有格局都带来了巨大的摧残与改变。贾科梅蒂移居美国,故乡离别与精神家园的破坏使得他去重新思考人的价值意义并以作品来对此作出表现。他的艺术风格的产生是伴随着整个时代巨变对于人类思想所带来的全面改变而出现
From the modernist discourse of western art history, Giacometti is subsumed under the artistic concept of existentialism. Because during World War II, the war brought great destruction and change to the pattern of political economy and even thought in Europe as a whole. Giacometti immigrated to the United States, and the destruction of his hometown and spiritual home made him rethink the value of human beings and show his works in his works. The emergence of his artistic style was accompanied by a complete change in the human mind through the dramatic changes of the entire age
