The development history of control method of iron alloy submerged arc furnace was reviewed. The difficulties and key points in the control of this kind of industrial furnace were analyzed. The realization method and economic benefits of using a microcomputer to control the electrode system of a 16500KVA silicon manganese alloy furnace were comprehensively discussed.
