沽源县老掌沟林场于上个世纪六十年代建场,至今已经走过46个年头。全场经营面积6.2万亩,林地面积4.6万亩,森林覆盖率达74%。近几年来,随着退耕还林、封山育林和塞北工程的强力实施,禁牧工作的顺利推进,林场地表植被得到恢复性增长,加之坝上地区冬春持续干旱、大风天数多,森林防火工作难度越来越大。该场紧紧抓住森林防火贵落实这根弦,把各项工作措施真正落到实处,确保了森林资源的安全,创造了连续46年无森林火灾的喜人成绩。
