The food industry is a life industry related to people’s livelihood and the people’s livelihood. The rapid economic and social development and rapid economic and technological upgrading of the national economy are facing new opportunities and challenges. The construction of an open practical training base for provincial-level food biotechnology is imminent. This paper discusses and analyzes the necessity of its construction from three aspects: the development of national food industry, the economic development of Guizhou Province and the development of higher vocational education with a view to providing theoretical support for the specific creation of the base. China’s food industry involves a wide range of industries, mainly including the four major food processing industries, food manufacturing, wine and beverage, refined tea manufacturing, tobacco manufacturing, etc.
