On the morning of September 6, 2006, we celebrated the centennial birthday of Academician Wei Shoukun and the symposium on the 77th anniversary of our teaching in the Great Hall of the People. Xu Kuangdi, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Minister of Education, Party Secretary Zhou Ji and representatives from all walks of life gathered in the Hebei Hall of the Great Hall of the People to celebrate the appointment of senior academicians, famous metallurgists, engineering educators and Beijing University of Science and Technology (formerly Beijing University of Iron and Steel Technology) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Mr. Wei Shoukun, a veteran of the school, is 100 years old
