T lymphocytes are important cells involved in airway inflammation and their activation is closely related to delayed response to asthma (LAR). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of low-dose theophylline on the activation of LAR and T lymphocytes after antigen challenge in allergic asthma. The authors randomized 17 patients with mild allergic asthma (FEV 1%> 80%) to two groups and received aminophylline or placebo respectively for 6 weeks. The mean serum concentration of theophylline group was 6.6 μg / ml. Allergen challenge test was performed before and after treatment. The total number and classification of cells in peripheral blood and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were counted and the T lymphocytes were analyzed by flow cytometry. The experiment was conducted in a double-blind situation. Results Compared with placebo, theophylline group LAR after treatment
