英汉语言在很多方面都存在着共同的禁忌或避讳,如死亡、疾病、缺陷、俗语、职业、外交等领域。委婉语是含蓄地对交际双方禁忌或避讳的东西进行曲折表达的一种用语。由于文化的差异,在英汉互译中往往要求译者对委婉语进行不同的处理,以达到文化信息的传递。本文从委婉语的定义、分类和处理三个层次,探讨了英汉互译中委婉语的处理技巧与方法,旨在促进跨文化交流。
In many ways, English and Chinese languages have common taboo or taboo, such as death, illness, defect, slang, occupation, diplomacy and other fields. Euphemism is an implicit expression of the taboo or taboos of both sides of a communicative language. Due to cultural differences, translators often require translators to process euphemisms differently in order to achieve the transfer of cultural information. This essay defines the euphemism, classifies it and deals with it. The essay deals with the techniques and methods of euphemism in English-Chinese translation, aiming to promote intercultural communication.
