所谓“样本书库”就是从图书馆入藏的全部文献或有长期使用价值的文献中每种抽出1～2册作为样本,单独长期保存,以备参考。这部分藏书品种齐全,保存完好,一般不外借,仅供特殊需要者在库内查阅。象这样的“样本书库”,我国的大、中型图书馆都设置了,并且都藏有少则几万册,多则上十万册、几十万册的文献资料。这种“书库”一般无专人管理,平时不开放,致使“样本书库”成为无人间津之地,或者是仅为炫耀之用的“参观书库”。这些取之不尽,用之不竭的精神财富不能充分利用,实在令人痛心。 “样本书库”是否有必要每个图书馆都设置呢?这值得图书馆界的关注。笔者认为,可以把已设置的大多数“样本书库”改为“综合安全阅览室”,使其文献在保管好的前提下,得到充分的开发和利用,最大限度地发挥馆藏优势。 一、“样本书库”的“弊” 1、从图书馆保护文化遗产的职能来说。保存人类遗产是图书馆应有的职能,无论是古代藏书楼,还是发展到今天的现代化图书馆都已发挥了这个职能作用。“样本书库”把历年来收藏的文献较完整地保存着,一代一代地传下去,是肯定有意义的。但是,众所周知,图书馆搜集、整理、保管图书的目的全在于“应用”,而“样本书库”从形式上来看,基本上成为一种“只收藏,不应用”或“极少应用”的?
