九歌堂藏俞樾致旭翁(待政)札,读来颇感精彩。俞樾(1821~1926),后人皆称曲园居士,清代道光三十年进士,改翰林院庶吉士,授编修,提督河南学政。后来以事罢官,终身从事学术研究。自同治七年(1868)起,他主讲杭州诂经精舍,达30余年之久,为一代经学宗师。这通信札既不谈训诂,也不谈义理,谈的却是篆刻艺术。俞曲园的确不会刻印,但依他的学识,却对篆刻艺术的基本规律耳熟能详。正如札中所说,“刻印古谓之
