焦竑(1540-1620)五车楼,原位于南京珠江路西端原焦状元巷,是南京最古老的私家藏书楼建筑之一,可惜于1994年春在南京城市建设中被拆毁。所谓“五车楼”,取的是《庄子·杂篇·天下第三十三》中“惠施多方,其书五车,其道舛驳,其言也不中”中形容其读书丰富的涵义。后人常常以“学富五车”来形容读书多或学问大的人。关于焦氏的藏书,浙江大藏书家澹生堂主人祁氏曾经说:“金陵焦太史藏书两楼,五楹俱满,余所目睹,而一一皆经校雠探讨,尤人所难。”可以说道出了焦竑五车楼藏书的重要特点。
