Objective To investigate the effect of hair digestion method on the determination of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and manganese. Methods Two different methods of wet digestion and microwave digestion were used for pretreatment. The contents of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and manganese in the hair were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Results There was no significant difference in the contents of all the tested elements after the three treatments (P> 0.05), and the results showed that the relative deviation was small after the microwave digestion. The recoveries of the three methods were 91.7% ~ 104.1%, the relative standard deviation of precision test were <5%. Conclusion All the three methods can obtain relatively accurate determination results. However, the microwave digestion method is simple, time-saving, less reagent consumption, less sample contamination, is an ideal method of digestion.
