《良友》画报是我国现代新闻出版史上第一本大型综合性新闻画报[1],内容题材广泛,遍及国内外政治、经济、军事、城乡建设、文艺、影视、体育等方面,在其创办近20年的漫长历程中不乏对中国近邻日本的图像展现。20世纪20—40年代是中日关系的多事之秋,《良友》画报通过由编辑者精心选择、刻意重组的图像形式将其建构的日本形象呈现给读者,带领读者从理性的角度去审视日本及中日关系,尤其在抗日战争时期对日本的侵略者形象的描绘及民族意识觉醒之宣传功不可没。本文从图像传播的视觉特点出发,区别于文字传播,换一个视角看日本,再现这20载《良友》画报中所呈现的日本形象,并探讨读者由此可能获知的对日认识。
The “good friend” pictorial is the first large-scale comprehensive news pictorial in the history of modern press and publication in China [1], covering a wide range of subject matter throughout the political, economic, military, urban and rural construction, literature and art, film and television, and sports at home and abroad. In the long course of 20 years, there are many images of Japan’s neighbor China. The 20-40s of the 20th century were the occasional autumn of the Sino-Japanese relations. The “good friend” pictorial presented the Japanese image of its construction to the readers through deliberately reorganized images carefully selected by editors, leading the readers to examine Japan and China in a rational way Japan relations, especially during the Anti-Japanese War, contributed to the delineation of Japan’s image of the invaders and the propaganda of national consciousness. This article, based on the visual characteristics of image transmission, distinguishes itself from the transmission of words, looks at Japan from a different perspective, reproduces the image of Japan presented in the 20 photos of “good friend” and explores the readers’ understanding of Japan.
