In May 1963, we went to Weaving Farm in Yangjiang County, Guangdong Province to conduct a survey on the 44 returned overseas Chinese workers who had been sold as piglets shortly after their return. They were trafficked to Sumatran East Plantation and Bangkath Tin mines between 1900 and 1940. We focused on understanding how they were trafficked to become “piglet” workers; the labor, lives and struggles of “piglet” Chinese laborers; the way out after “getting out of the country.” This investigation further makes us realize: 1. The most important and fundamental reason for the “piglet” laborers being sold abroad is the economic oppression and political oppression by the imperialists, the bureaucratic bourgeoisie and the landlord class.
