扬州青溪旧屋刘氏家族,是自清嘉庆至民国时期数代相传的书香世家,始创于刘文淇,其子刘毓崧、孙刘寿曾都是乾嘉汉学传统的知名学者,以祖孙三代共注一部《春秋左氏传》而著称。再后,刘师苍、刘师培等后人,也都能发扬祖上遗业,在传统学术领域作出了非常重要的贡献。世人论及青溪旧屋刘氏,皆讲到第四代“师”字辈。其实,作为刘家第五代“葆”字辈中的刘葆儒,在传承刘氏家学及在现代科学领域也颇有贡献,值得人们认真研究。
