On March 15, the “China National Assessment Report on Extreme Weather, Climate Events and Disaster Risk Management and Adaptation” (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”) was released in Sendai, Japan, during the UN World Conference on Disaster Reduction III. The report predicts that by the end of the 21st century, China will have a higher risk of high temperatures, floods and droughts. Urbanization, aging and the accumulation of wealth have a superimposed and magnifying effect on the risk of climate disasters. The Report suggests that a comprehensive national plan for climate disaster risk management and adaptation should be formulated and implemented as soon as possible so as to provide a strong guarantee for the management of national climate disaster risks.
