An initial position-sensitive parallel plate avalanche counter with a unique position readout method (the cathode itself serves as a readout delay line) has been preliminary; the detector operates in a 1.33-2.67 kPa isobutane gas yielding better than 1 mm Position resolution and time resolution of about 350 ps (for ~ (252) Cf fission sources).
