到目前为止,在我们的日常生活中半导体二极管激光器已经发展成为利用最广泛,地位最重要的激光器。二极管激光器在1997年世界范围内的销售量超过2亿个,这一事实有力地说明了它在CD播放器、激光打印机、激光影碟机以及PC机等领域中无可挑剔的地位。二极管激光器对消费电子行业的转变起了一定的作用,同时它的发展对促使信息产业去提高它的服务能力也起了一定的作用。当前,因特网被应用的范围正在迅速地扩大,致使对带宽的需求也相应的增加,这便需要提高信息产生的服务能力去满足不断增加的带宽需求。
