严嵩(1480～1566)晚年手订平生所撰诗文成《钤山堂集》,在《自序》里自述学诗的经历说: “予昔在童年,即学为声律。既窃科目,恒苦疢疾。一造金马之署,寻返碧山之庐。环堵萧然,吟啸终日。久之出而从仕,获与二三同志扬榷风雅之道。历览唐贤诸家,曾未涉其津涯,惟取颐诸情性,晚登政途,万务劳形,百责身萃。回忆旧业,如弁髦然。然因事记言,抚景寓兴,猎心未免。抑皆触口纵笔,率尔应酬,不能求工,亦不暇求工。由前则多山林之致,由后则皆朝省
