中国与日本是一衣带水的邻邦。两国文学,联系密切,历史悠久。要了解日本文学就必须考虑它和中国文学的关系;要了解中国文学也最好是和日本文学加以比较,才能明确地掌握各自的实质和特点。正如著者铃木修次博士在该书《后记》中引用苏轼的诗“不识庐山真面目,只缘身在此山中”所说的,“身在山中不见山”。日本人置身日本的环境中,对日本文学的特点,反而容易熟视无睹。他自己虽然专攻中国文学,以为只一味局限在中国文学的现象方,对中国文学的特点也会视而不见。这些亲身体验,使
China and Japan are neighbors in a strip of water. The two countries have close contact with a long history. To understand Japanese literature must consider its relationship with Chinese literature; to understand Chinese literature is best compared with Japanese literature, in order to clearly grasp their own essence and characteristics. Just as Dr. Suzuki Xiuzhe quoted Su Shi’s poem, “I do not know the true face of Lushan Mountain, I only found myself in this mountain” in the book “Postscript”, “I am missing a mountain in the mountains.” Japanese exposure to the Japanese environment, the characteristics of Japanese literature, but easy to turn a blind eye.
