新港渔场是沅江市首批建立的商品鱼基地之一,全场有28户,120个人口,男女劳力45人。拥有养殖水面460亩,其中成鱼池388.7亩,鱼种池71.3亩,旱土600亩。1989年该场开展鱼猪套养的生态渔业,当年取得了明显的经济效益。全场总产鲜鱼14.59万公斤,亩平375公斤;产值42.5万元,户平15178.5元,人平产值3541.67元。该场1989年饲养牲猪1063头,亩平2.3头,户平38头,创产值42.4万元,户平15142.86元,人平3533.3元。鱼猪及其他经营全年共创产值97.6万元,实现总利润35.3万元,比1988年增长34.7％。该场实行鱼猪配套获得好效益的主要经验是: 1、搞好鱼池的清整消毒冬季干池捕完鱼后,各渔户都抓紧时间雇请劳力挑
